As we continue to endure the effects of COVID-19, we need our smiles to connect us more than ever, even behind the mask! At Rockland Dental Specialists, we’re taking proactive steps to ensure patients, care teams, and communities have a safe and clean environment for all their dental needs.
We want to assure our entire community that we’re taking the safety of our patients and staff very seriously. While so much has changed over the past several months, one constant has remained: our commitment to your protection and wellbeing.
Here Are Some of the Actions We’re Taking Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic
Our practice has improved upon our already rigorous health and safety measures to reflect recommendations from the CDC, American Dental Association, and NYS Department of Health. You may notice a few changes when it’s time for your next appointment. These measures will help ensure the protection of our patients and staff.
In addition to mandatory patient screenings before entering the office, here are some of the new infection control procedures we’re implementing beyond our standard strict sterilization techniques:
- Pre-appointment screening: Our staff has been thoroughly briefed on how to handle this condition and are screening any patient who’s walking into our office. We have advised all patients and staff to stay home if they have flu-like symptoms.
- Hand sanitizer stations: We’ll ask you to use hand sanitizer when you first enter the office. You’ll also find dispensers located in various places throughout the office to use as needed.
- Handwashing requirement: Each clinical staff member is required, as always, to wash their hands with antibacterial soap and water after working with each patient and every time they use the restroom. As mentioned, there’s ample hand sanitizer in our office as well, but of course, there’s no substitute for good, old-fashioned hand washing.
- Disinfecting of common area surfaces: We’re conducting disinfection of shared objects and high transit areas during and after each shift.
- Social distancing: We’ll do our best to allow ample time between patients to reduce wait times and to decrease the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

You’re advised to wash your hands often and with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If you’re sick, check for coronavirus symptoms. Follow CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask.
